- November 2011 - Give Peas A Chance. Downtown LA walk with Larry. Occupy LA. Cops on horseback. Broadway terrazzo.
- November 2011 - Mujeres con Huevos (Xalapa, Pt. 1). Xalapa with Mike, visiting Elissa and Xochi. "Viaje al Mictlan." Dia de los Muertos. Altars. Crazy dancers. Basket of crickets. Xallitic. Cementerio Antiguo Xalapeño. Xico.
- November 2011 - Diablitos y Glorias (Veracruz). Veracruz, quatro veces heroica. San Juan de Ulúa. El Baluarte de Santiago (old fort), Emigrantes Libaneses and other monuments, terrazzo on the sidewalk, Museo de la Ciudad, Xochi's slap watch. In their day, El Baluarte de Santiago guarded the city from the shore (now it's several blocks inland) and La Fortaleza de San Juan de Ulúa guarded it from out in the bay (now you get to it by trolley or taxi).
- November 2011 - El Hogar del Son (Xalapa, Pt. 2) Raquel fixes mojarra, fandango (Veracruz hootenanny), beautiful formal garden at University of Veracruz, tacos de pastor, trucha at Rancho Viejo, Orchard Cave, visit with Armando and Claudia, Elissa fixes tacos de jamaica (hybiscus).

2011 - El Capital. Mexico City, the National Palace and Diego
Rivera's "Epic of a Nation." I met my friend Laura when I walked into
her travel agency in 1991 to book a trip to Mexico to see a solar eclipse.
She put me in the Hotel Majestic for my first stop, and it really changed
my life. When Mike and I decided to stay over in la capital on our
way home, I booked a room there. I believe we got the same room, sixth
floor, overlooking the Zócalo, one of the largest public squares in
the world, and the center of life in Mexico City (Tenochtitlan) since
1325, when the Aztecs wandered in from the west...

Heirloom tomato from farmers market. Pier del Sol. Baby Adalina. Rattlesnake
sausage. Occupy Venice/Venice Post Office.

2011 - Let Me Be Los Angeles. Getty Center with Eugene and kids.
Venice walk with Larry and Herschel. Reading ON THE ROAD at the Hammer.

2011 - Favorite Red Wine. Walk around Harbor Lake, San Pedro. Walk
along the LA River, with birds, grapes, homeless encampments, dogs and
cats. Lunches around town with family and friends.

2011 - Another Paste in the Crowd. Grand Performances, walk in Naples
(Long Beach) with Eugene, cat house occupied at last.

2011 - Dont Sell Out. Fourth of July fireworks, Grand Performances,
Mt. Hillyer.

2011 - Have You Ever Seen a Stranger Animal? California road
trip with Amani and Larry. Gaviota Rest Area (good history display),
Nojoqui Falls, Elephant Seals, Highway 1, Julia Pfieffer Burns State
Park, Henry Miller Memorial Library, Pacific Grove, El Cerrito, Grass
Valley, American River, I-5.
- June
2011 - Snag Hazard. Hike on newly-opened trail in the Angeles
National Forest, closed for more than a year and a half by the devastating
station fire. Season opening of Grand Perfomances, featuring Sheetal
Gandi (Human Nature) and Ian Ruskin (To Begin the World Over Again:
the Life of Thomas Paine. Found Cat.

2011 - Tired of Giving In. Rosa Parks Park in Long Beach, Fish
Canyon with jumpers and a scrambler, Cliff, Joe, possums, Playa Del
Rey Beach.
- May
2011 - I Don't Like Flowers. Flowers, cats and bamboo in the
garden. Carson farmers market. Library class.
- May
2011 - Friars of the Sick and Poor. Jerry came by and trimmed
my palm trees, and I made a cathouse of some of the fronds. Then I
went for a walk and breakfast in Manhattan Beach with Herschel. Then
I went for a walk in Long Beach, and accidentally came across the Friars
of the Sick and Poor, which I've been looking for ever since I stumbled
across it years ago and took some pix, but I forgot where it was. Then
in the garden there was new bamboo, and cactus flowers, and cats. Then
I had lunch with the gang at Em's Artist Cafe on La Cienega, where
I had a fantastic alligator quesadilla (emsartistcafe.com).
Then I went to Linda Vallejo's opening at Studio 50 in Highland Park
(www.lindavallejo.com).
Then I went to the LA County Arboretum with Camille and Geri.

2011 - Who Is Bob? Family gathering in Palmdale, Antelope Valley
Poppy Reserve, Exotic Feline Breeding Compound, Passover seder at Ethiopian
restaurant, Dodger Game, beach walk, Hollywood visit with Megan and
family.

2011 - See Ya Later Dick-tator. Griffith Park hike with Larry,
Maureen and Herschel, Bronson Caves, Mao's Kitchen with Sammy, Marie
and Davie. Cats, cactus flowers, etc.

2011 - Hear These Springs. Dinosaurs: A Different View. Lava
Beds, Cynthia's Hostel (www.discovercynthias.com)
with Maureen, Larry, Dan, Tom, Robb, Nancy and Steve; Ash Meadows,
phainopepla, mesquite, desert mistletoe, pup fish.

2011 - Colonist of the Month. Compton Creek, Los Angeles Cathedral,
Laguna Canyon Winery.

2011 - San Diego Zoo with cousins Barry and Pablo. Snakes,
meerkats, California condors, mating polar bears, hippo with baby in
pool.
- January
2011 - Michael Hittleman Gallery Opening at their new location,
8403 W. 3rd St., LA. Special guests included LA City Councilman Paul
Koretz and artist Adam Berg, whose creation, SOLAR ECLIPSE, was debuted

2011 - World of Clowns. Long Beach. Murals, The Breakers, Jim
Berry in the public square, World of Clowns, birds, fish, Sagely Monastery.

2011 - Happy New Year. Visit from Sarina, New Year's Eve at
Maureen's, New Year's hike at Nicholas Flat, Jim's new digs (The Breakers,Long
Beach), garden with cats and mushrooms.
